I generally enjoy and appreciate your work, but this felt impossible to me and my c-cup breasts! Maybe my Pilates ball is too large? (I think it's a pretty standard size, but I'm not a connoisseur.) Either the ball was pulling on my breast skin the whole time, or the ball was up on my cheeks and in my mouth. I could hardly focus on my breath unless I stayed still and just slumped over the ball. I wonder if you might try this again working with feedback from topless people with varying breast sizes to be able to give more helpful directions.
Hmmm. Maybe try with the ball half deflated and lean towards a wall instead of on the ground; see if that works better for you!

My knees are burning and walking upstairs or downstairs gas different muscles hurting or feeling like they are ripping off the bone. Squatting? I just don't have the flexibility mobility and hip rotation to get that low

So are you saying that we should not be rotating our hips when we walk? Would it be possible to see you walking in the correct way? I have been rotating my hips to try and avoid inner knee pain but it doesn't seem to be working.

How do I get my hips strong enough to hold them even when I raise the one leg... I need like a before this exercise... Lol. I am doing the butterfly bridge thingy in the mornings.

I would love to add a little life anecdote from my mom's experience. She's been struggling with excessive weight ever since I was a little girl, for decades! When her menopause hit, it hit her hard. She started feeling fatigued often, had hot flashes all the time, like dozens of times a day, it would completely destroy her days, her mood, her life. Even the smallest amount of stress made her cry and go red and have these flashes. Then the war started in my country and I found out that Cyprus is welcoming refugees, so I helped her apply. She lived in an accomodation where they served lunch and dinner (absolutely delicious, healthy stuff such as fish, chicken, so many veggies, fruits, cheese, nuts) and she lived 15 minutes from the sea. So, in 6 months of this new lifestyle of walking daily 30 minutes but also additionally taking hikes every few days for hours, eating good food and having no stress (like my father😂) she lost SO MUCH WEIGHT, she's now same size us me and looks fantastic. But the most important part - menopause is not terrorizing her anymore. Her mind is more clear and she's much more flexible, doesn't get back pains and knee pains anymore. Since then, she found a stable job there, moved to her own little apartment and continues to thrive and this is probably the happiest thing for me. I believe the combination of low stress, high movement, good food and maybe a dash of beautiful view around can change person's life drastically. I wish you all ladies the best and hope to grow into an active lady like you, as well

Hey Petra - You're using a different definition of pronation (foot rolls inward) and supination (foot rolls outward) than I'm used to. From a recent email: "Healthy feet will twist and become rigid to push us forward at every step (this is called supination). And they’ll also soften and lengthen to absorb the shock of each foot fall (called pronation)."

I have no idea, I'm afraid - generally working on foot strength and function will decrease pain over time but it's impossible to give you specifics without working with you directly
Very good. I go to chair arobics twice a week. I have had both hips replaced. So I don't think I can manage to get down as far as to the floor. But does it really matter if I can't manage it. I can only get my muscles stronger. ❤
Nope - you have to work with what makes sense for your body and build from there!!

I have plantar fasciitis ,it's agony . Had it on right foot for 2 years then last year it healed now it's on my left foot ,I'm so frustrated . 😢

This one was a great help.. i used to weight training in my younger years and realising for the past few years that my hip mobility has been getting tighter and tighter to the point where I wake up some mornings limping… Try these movements in bed and it just freed me off the stiffness so noticeably, felt great

In this case, two ways. First, it's not so much about strengthening them as it is about stopping overloading them. When you stop overloading them, they stop failing, so the outcome is they work better. Second, because when you breath well (which requires a relaxed and reflexive abdomen) your pelvic floor will respond to your breathing naturally and this continual loading will help it be stronger and more functional. Does that clarify?
hello Petra , I been having walking gait for a few years, I been to PT and they haven't helped much. My issue is , I have a Trendelenburg gait or you could called it Waddle Gait or walking like a penguin . If you could be some help on this topic, I sure would appreciate it . *My Right Hip is Weak* , and so my left hip drops , I have been doing glutes , and many other exercises daily. I would love to know your opinion. Thank you .
Hi Debbie - it's really tough to give specific advice without working with you but one thing you can definitely work on is lateral hip strength - here's a link to my fave exercise for that: bit.ly/3OlRN8j If you need more, my Pelvic Floor+ program is probably a good choice as it's a comprehensive introduction to improving walking mechanics (and a whole lot more!)

Ill be there one day. 20 years of wearing steeltoe boots and never stretching my toes has left me struggling at this move. After about 1 year of working my toes im half way there!

Good Q! This one is really just what I'd consider an expression of mobility - it's a 'nice to have' not a 'must-have' IMO - although big toe mobility and full knee flexion are both good to work on (toes because you need a lot of big toe mobility to walk, knees because joints benefit from being used regularly in a full ROM). More broadly, I'd say that having control and full range of motion in various ground movements is a sign of good mind body connection & strength and tends to correlate with having efficient and high quality movement patterns over all. The real takeaway here isn't the move, it's the bolstering! In other words, if you can't achieve a movement with control, you need to make the range smaller and build from there!
